Job Vacancy: Specialist, Data Privacy & Protection (Technology & Support) at MTN Ghana

MTN Ghana is inviting qualified professionals to apply for the role of Specialist, Data Privacy & Protection (Technology & Support). This position forms part of the company’s broader transformation agenda—strengthening regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and data protection culture across its technical and support divisions.

The role is based in Accra and reports directly to the Manager, Data Privacy & Protection.


What the Role Involves

As the Data Privacy & Protection Specialist, you will help MTN Ghana implement and maintain strong privacy policies, ensure compliant data handling practices, and support technical teams in protecting personal data throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement data privacy policies aligned with the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843).

  • Maintain accurate data inventories and system data flow maps using discovery and classification tools.

  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for systems, projects, and new technologies.

  • Monitor internal and external compliance requirements and report emerging risks.

  • Manage Data Subject Requests (DSRs), including access, rectification, and erasure.

  • Carry out Transfer Risk Assessments and Third-Party Risk Assessments.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to embed privacy-by-design practices into systems and workflows.

  • Review information security plans across MTN’s network to ensure alignment with data privacy goals.

  • Support incident response activities such as log analysis, impact assessment, and breach documentation.

  • Maintain audit trails, compliance documents, training logs, and dashboard reports.

  • Assist with privacy awareness training and cross-functional data protection initiatives.

  • Support implementation of organisational and technical controls to safeguard personal data.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity

  • Certified Data Protection Supervisor (DPC Ghana) – compulsory

  • Additional certifications in IT, cybersecurity, or privacy are an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant field

  • Background in medium or large organisations

  • Ability to work across diverse cultures
