Duties and Responsibilities
An optometrist is needed to perform standard eye exams, identify diseases, injuries, or other vision issues, and prescribe corrective lenses when necessary. Responsibilities also include providing vision therapy, low-vision rehabilitation, and addressing patient concerns. The role involves prescribing medications, fitting contact lenses, ensuring proper use and maintenance of all necessary equipment, and recording tests, prescriptions, and treatments in patient charts.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and hold a current state optometry license in good standing. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing optometrist is required, along with solid knowledge of ophthalmic equipment, experience in prescribing and fitting corrective lenses, and a history of excellent patient care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
