The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Ghana is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting gender equity and equality in education. We are seeking a high-caliber, results-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M&E, Research & Documentation) to join our dynamic professional team.
Role Overview
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be crucial in developing tools and mechanisms to enhance FAWE Ghana’s monitoring and evaluation infrastructure. This role includes generating, capturing, and sharing best practices from strategic initiatives in program implementation. The Officer will also conduct research, surveys, and other data collection activities to inform decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and improve FAWE Ghana’s M&E system, tools, guidelines, and data analysis procedures.
- Create and evaluate frameworks for new programs and funding proposals, reviewing existing programs as needed.
- Maintain and upgrade the online database of all FAWE Ghana programs, interventions, beneficiaries, partners, and reports.
- Monitor program performance within a results-based management framework.
- Contribute to progress and implementation reports, documenting program impacts and incorporating lessons learned.
- Draft and review donor reports.
- Ensure that FAWE’s annual work plans and programs are developed with a results-based perspective, integrating M&E into the program cycle.
- Manage M&E systems like IATI reporting and evaluate compliance with strategic and annual work plans.
Documentation and Learning
- Advise on flexible and simple recording and lesson-sharing methods at various levels to promote learning and contribute to an overall impact assessment framework.
- Work with program staff to ensure M&E is integrated into all program cycles.
- Collaborate with partners and donors’ M&E staff to supply evidence on the emerging culture of learning.
- Coordinate surveys, external reviews, and evaluations, including drafting TORs for project evaluations and studies.
- Organize training workshops, information sessions, and seminars to build M&E capacity within the organization.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing among staff, partners, and peers.
- Collaborate closely with the Communication Officer to update the FAWE Ghana web page.
Applied Research
- Coordinate baseline, mid-line, and end-line surveys, external reviews, and evaluations.
- Identify the need for and develop terms of reference and concept notes for specific studies or research.
- Support the revamping of the Research Unit at FAWE Ghana.
Capacity Building
- Organize training workshops and seminars to enhance M&E capacity within the FAWE Ghana network.
- Assist FAWE Ghana in data visualization, digitalization, AI, and machine learning, producing meaningful reports.
- Analyze lessons learned and recommend best practices to improve and promote girls’ and women’s education in Ghana.
- Promote knowledge integration and dissemination, introducing new tools and technology to enhance FAWE Ghana’s Resource and Documentation Centre.
- Establish networking with relevant organizations and partners to develop knowledge products related to girls’ education.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Development Studies, Statistics, Project Management, Sociology, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in M&E, with 5 years in CSO.
- Strong understanding of M&E approaches, quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, and proficiency in M&E and program management software.
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills, including team supervision and relationship building.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with experience in diverse audience communication.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, plan, and integrate knowledge and learning, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis tools, and software (e.g., MS Excel, ERP systems, SPSS, GIS).
- Experience working with partners and donors, along with a proactive attitude and professional integrity.
- Basic knowledge in gender and education concepts.
