The organization is currently seeking a high-caliber, results-oriented individual with integrity to join its dynamic team as a Human Resource/Safeguarding Officer.

Role Overview

The Human Resource/Safeguarding Officer at FAWE Ghana will oversee employee welfare, safety, and compliance. Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, training, managing employee lifecycles, and benefits administration. Additionally, this role ensures adherence to labor laws, addresses grievances, and fosters a respectful work environment. Key duties also involve implementing safeguarding policies to protect vulnerable individuals associated with FAWE Ghana and its partners. This position requires a proactive individual who is well-versed in NGO HR and safeguarding functions and aligns with FAWE Ghana’s values. The role reports to the Programmes Manager and may require flexibility in working hours.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members’ safety from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
  • Serve as a safeguarding expert to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Promote and enforce safeguarding policies among team members.
  • Follow and encourage adherence to safeguarding reporting procedures.

Key Duties

  • Lead HR and training teams on strategic and operational training efforts for capability development.
  • Manage relationships to support FAWE Ghana’s goals, contributing to strategic direction and HR policy development.
  • Develop programs to attract, retain, and develop talent, ensuring competitive pay and an engaging culture.
  • Propose and implement new HR initiatives and support change management programs.
  • Review HR policies, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and manage HRIS and relevant HR data.
  • Oversee the onboarding and exit processes, including documentation and reporting.
  • Administer staff welfare programs and ensure safeguarding components are integrated into recruitment processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Member of IHRM with CHRP qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, including 3+ years in non-profit/NGO settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in multicultural office environments and handling high-pressure situations.
  • Fluency in English and a commitment to FAWE Ghana’s mission and values.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience with gender and youth-based organizations.
