These “Mentor Mothers” provide essential health services in clinics and communities, ensuring universal access to the care needed for health and continuity of care. Since its founding in 2001, m2m has created nearly 12,000 jobs for women living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa and has reached over 15 million people with vital health services and education. In 2021 alone, m2m served over 1.6 million people across 10 African nations, including 402,616 adolescents, a 51% increase from the previous year. m2m has made significant progress toward the Global Goals of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030, achieving virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV among its clients for the eighth consecutive year and meeting all UNAIDS Fast-Track Targets four years ahead of schedule. Job Summary

The Country Finance Manager will oversee the financial operations in Ghana, including the implementation and monitoring of financial transactions and administrative processes. This role encompasses financial management, reporting, data analysis, and donor reporting. The manager will support the in-country team to ensure effective resource allocation and report to the Country Director, providing technical and financial support in Accra.

Key Performance Areas

Finance Function Management:

  • Establish and maintain financial systems and internal controls.
  • Uphold m2m finance policies and procedures.
  • Build capacity on m2m policies, procurement, and accounting software.
  • Assist with setting up in-country bank accounts and manage the Ghana country budget.
  • Prepare proposal budgets for new opportunities and ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

Financial and Accounting Management:

  • Support the Country Lead and management team with financial advice and management.
  • Oversee accounting processes related to Country Office transactions.
  • Track cash receipts and disbursements, advising on project spending and planning.

Financial Integrity and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain internal control systems for security over resources.
  • Update financial policies in line with Head Office guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and manage monthly account closures.
  • Submit timely financial data and reports to Head Office.
  • Monitor cash flow and support audit processes to address findings and ensure compliance.

Budget and Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain the Country Office annual budgets.
  • Provide monthly financial reports to the Country Lead and project directors.
  • Oversee procurement, logistics, travel, and program activity management.
  • Ensure integrity and documentation of procurement procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional qualification preferred, with a minimum of a 3-year bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of post-study experience in a financial/accounting role, including 2 years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of institutional donor requirements (USAID, CDC, EC, DfID, UN partner agencies, SIDA) is advantageous.

Competencies

  • Versatile team player comfortable under pressure.
  • Strong accounting and financial management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems and high proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency in English is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to manage competing tasks and prioritize effectively.
