Job Summary

The Project Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including project leads, site managers, engineers, and subcontractors, to create realistic and achievable project plans.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop detailed project schedules using project management software.
  • Collaborate with project leads to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Identify project milestones, tasks, and timelines.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and compliance with plans.

Resource Allocation:

  • Coordinate with site managers and engineers to allocate resources efficiently.
  • Monitor and adjust resource allocations to ensure optimal use.
  • Address potential resource constraints with effective solutions.

Risk Management:

  • Identify risks that could impact project timelines.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate potential delays.
  • Update stakeholders regularly on risk management strategies.

Communication:

  • Communicate project schedules and updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular project meetings to discuss progress.
  • Work closely with project leads to resolve any schedule-related issues.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyze project data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular progress reports, highlighting key milestones and risks.

Collaboration:

  • Work with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and integrate them into the overall plan.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Propose and implement improvements to planning processes.
  • Incorporate industry best practices into project planning.

Project Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including project reports, schedules, and budgets.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Project Lead.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Planner in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • PMP certification is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and large-scale construction projects.
