Job Opportunity: Finance Specialist at GIZ Ghana

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a global enterprise operating in over 100 countries, providing public-benefit services on behalf of the German Government. Project Overview: Network for Inclusive Economic Development (NIED) Cluster

The NIED Cluster, a core component of GIZ Ghana, is dedicated to promoting initiatives in training, job creation, and the green economy. Since its inception in 2019, the Cluster has significantly evolved, leading to the formation of the Finance, Logistics, and Procurement (FLP) service unit, which enhances operational efficiency and supports organizational functions. This unit provides specialized services in procurement, payments, financial control, and logistics.

Role Summary: Finance Specialist

The Finance Specialist will deliver internal financial and administrative support to project staff, adhering to GIZ’s established rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process travel expense claims and manage travel payments for cluster staff and partners, ensuring compliance with GIZ’s policies.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and external partners to streamline travel management processes.
  • Maintain strict compliance with company policies and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Utilize financial software to improve efficiency and protect the confidentiality of financial data.
  • Handle check payments in accordance with GIZ cash management rules when online banking is not an option.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for internal control assignments.
  • Apply audit expertise to uphold high standards of accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first-level university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a preference for Finance or Accounting.
  • At least five years of experience focused on audit, finance, and administration.
  • Proficiency in audit-compliant filing and digital filing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT tools and computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Proactive approach to personal and institutional growth.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to delivering result-oriented performance.
  • Willingness to upskill as necessary, with training provided by management.
