Our client, Ghana’s leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking an Environment, Health and Safety Officer. This role involves establishing a health and safety culture and an environmental management program in the factory, adhering to GMP standards and ensuring proper documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Investigate, analyze, and report incidents and accidents.
- Perform job hazard analysis and risk assessments, coordinating with the QAM to address identified issues.
- Oversee health monitoring of staff as per the approved SOP for Health Surveillance.
- Conduct and coordinate safety and health training programs.
- Ensure the annual renewal of fire certificates, factory inspectorate certificates, and EPA permits.
- Develop environmental monitoring programs and track raw material consumption, production output, water, and electricity usage, submitting quarterly returns to the EPA.
- Submit annual environmental monitoring reports to the EPA and develop an Environmental Management Plan for the factory.
- Work with the QAM to address any environmental parameters that are out of specification.
- Document social activities undertaken by the factory, such as student attachments and donations.
- Sample and evaluate the quality of water used in manufacturing, reporting results as per SOPs.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for microbial exposed plate monitoring and report results.
- Supervise the sanitation officer to maintain factory cleanliness.
- Manage the disposal of rejected materials and ensure proper records are kept.
- Perform additional duties, including re-registration of drug products, online inspection during packaging, conducting internal audits, self-inspection, line clearance, raw material release, and verification.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Chemistry, Pharmacy, B. Tech, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role.
