Project Brief: Network for Inclusive Economic Development (NIED) Cluster

The NIED Cluster is one of GIZ Ghana’s core areas, focusing on initiatives related to training, job creation, and the green economy transition. The cluster aims to contribute to Ghana’s economic development by addressing obstacles to employment-intensive growth and enhancing capacity across various sectors. Established in 2019, the NIED Cluster has developed significantly, creating a Finance, Logistics, and Procurement (FLP) service unit to optimize operational efficiencies and support organizational functions. This includes specialized services in procurement, financial controlling, and logistics.

Role Overview

The Finance Specialist will provide financial and administrative support to project staff, ensuring compliance with GIZ rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process travel expense claims accurately and manage travel payments for cluster staff and partners.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and external partners to streamline travel management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain detailed financial records.
  • Use financial software to improve efficiency and protect the confidentiality of financial information.
  • Manage check payments in accordance with GIZ cash management rules when online banking is not applicable.
  • Prepare files and documentation for internal control assignments.
  • Utilize audit expertise to uphold high standards of accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first-level University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience focusing on audit, finance, and administration.
  • Proficient in audit-compliant filing and digital filing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT tools and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral.
  • Proactive attitude towards personal growth and institutional changes.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver results-oriented performance.
  • Willingness to upskill as required, with measures agreed upon with management.
