Job Description for Head of Credit

As the Head of Credit, the selected candidate will:

  • Develop and implement the credit strategy for the bank

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on credit risks and periodic reviews to the CEO

  • Submit monthly credit reports and ensure all loans are registered with credit reference bureaus and the collateral registry

  • Conduct regular credit facility reviews to ensure compliance with agreed terms

  • Monitor loan performance and report early warning signals to management

  • Maintain a minimum 95% loan recovery rate monthly

  • Recover at least 5% of overdue loans each month


Requirements for the Head of Credit Role

To be considered for this position, candidates must:

  • Hold a First Degree in a relevant field

  • Possess a professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, ACIB, CICMG, or Project Management (advantageous)

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the rural banking industry, including 3 years in a managerial role

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Show proficiency in IFRS9 credit impairment models


Board Secretary Role Overview

The Board Secretary will:

  • Oversee board activities in line with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992)

  • Work with the Board Chairman and CEO to plan meetings and ensure accurate record-keeping

  • Guide the board on legal and governance compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date records of board member bios and appointments

  • Support board committees with documentation and communication

  • Maintain governance policy manuals and review schedules


Qualifications and Competencies Required for Board Secretary

Applicants must:

  • Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or an LLB

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar governance role

  • Be a member of a professional body such as ICAG, ICCA, or CHIRM (advantageous)
