Several months ago, a series of private videos involving Baltasar Ebang Engonga, a high-ranking civil servant from Equatorial Guinea, sparked a viral scandal on social media. The videos reportedly depicted Engonga, the director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), engaged in intimate activities with several women, including the wives of prominent officials, in his office at the Ministry of Finance.
This scandal prompted a strong response from the government, particularly from Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, who publicly announced on social media that the government would order the immediate suspension of any civil servants found engaging in inappropriate behavior in ministry offices. Such activities, he stated, violate both the code of conduct and the public ethics law of the country.
Despite the widespread nature of the videos, Engonga was arrested, but later released by the court after authorities concluded that all the women involved had consented to the activities, leading to no criminal charges being filed.
However, just weeks after his release, a new video surfaced online, allegedly featuring Engonga and another woman. The scandal continues to stir debate within the country and on social media platforms.
