ActionAid Ghana is currently recruiting qualified and passionate professionals to join its Climate Adaptation Project team. The available roles—Project Officer (Early Warning System and Civil Works) and Project Manager—are full-time positions based in Accra, with fieldwork in the Volta Region. Job Openings in Climate Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction

1. Project Officer – Early Warning System and Civil Works

  • Location: Accra (frequent travel to Volta Region)

  • Duration: 16 months (renewable for 18 months based on performance and funding)

  • Salary Level: SM 2

  • Reports To: Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain Early Warning Systems (EWS) in 11 flood-prone communities

  • Supervise construction of flood channels, culverts, signage, and sirens

  • Train community EWS committees on emergency preparedness

  • Conduct field inspections and ensure environmental and social safeguards

  • Liaise with NADMO, GMet, local assemblies, and other stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Disaster Risk Management, or Environmental Science

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of EWS and civil works

  • Familiarity with GIS/AutoCAD is an advantage

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills


2. Project Manager – Climate Adaptation Project

  • Location: Accra (regular travel to project sites in Volta Region)

  • Duration: 16 months (renewable for 18 months)

  • Salary Level: SM 4

  • Reports To: Head of Programmes, Campaigns and Innovation

  • Supervises: Project Officers and Project Staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate implementation of climate adaptation strategies

  • Develop annual work plans and ensure delivery of project outcomes

  • Engage stakeholders including ministries, MMDAs, and CSOs

  • Monitor project compliance, budgets, and donor reporting

  • Oversee M&E, advocacy, and learning activities

  • Maintain relationships with donors such as Habitat for Humanity International

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Climate Change, or related fields

  • 5+ years in a senior project management role

  • Strong expertise in climate adaptation, advocacy, and donor contract management

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and team leadership

  • Proficient in report writing, monitoring tools, and MS Office
